We know that after the partition of India and Pakistan, there has been a dispute between the two nations regarding Jammu & Kashmir. In the same way, there is another ongoing dispute between India and Nepal on a 400-kilometer area called KALAPANI.
Indian Government released a new political map recently showing the Jammu and Kashmir, Ladak as the Union Territories. There is also one more thing to be noticed here, India map has Uttarakhand with Nepal & China as borders.
In the new map released, India has shown KALAPANI, which is officially a part of Nepal as a place that belonged to India.
First of all, we need to know this. After the India-China war, even today China army always try to enter the Indian Sub-continent through Uttarakhand. So, India has to deploy its army in the KALAPANI region to counter back the Chinese army.
So, India and Nepal signed a treaty in 1816 that KALAPANI belongs to Nepal but India can deploy its troops in KALAPANI for security reasons.
But now, the Nepal government sent an official government letter stating that the map India released is not acceptable to them as it includes KALAPANI as a district in Uttarakhand.
In return, India accepted that and wrote that diplomatic talks could resolve the issue.
