VERIZON – Interview Questions & Answers
1. What is Backend Development?
Answer:
Backend development means writing code that runs behind the scenes of a website or app. It handles the logic, database, security, and performance. It connects what users see (frontend) to the server and database.
2. Explain the Spring Framework in Java.
Answer:
Spring is a Java framework that makes building web apps easier. It helps manage things like database connections, security, and organizing code. It’s widely used because it reduces boilerplate code and improves efficiency.
3. What is REST API and how is it different from SOAP?
Answer:
REST (Representational State Transfer) is a simple way for two systems to talk using HTTP (like GET, POST). SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) is more strict and uses XML. REST is faster and more flexible, while SOAP is more secure in some cases.
4. What is Kubernetes? Why is it used?
Answer:
Kubernetes is a tool to manage many containers (small units of software). It helps run applications that are big and complex, keeps them up and running, and makes sure they’re easy to scale.
5. Explain your experience or understanding of AWS.
Answer:
AWS (Amazon Web Services) is a cloud platform. It offers services like:
EC2 (virtual servers),
S3 (file storage),
Lambda (serverless functions),
RDS (databases).
We use AWS to build apps faster, more securely, and without needing physical servers.
6. What is Apache Camel used for?
Answer:
Apache Camel is a tool used to connect different parts of a system. It routes data between software systems smoothly using predefined rules, making integration easier.
7. Can you explain what is IoT or M2M?
Answer:
IoT (Internet of Things) means devices like smart TVs or sensors connected to the internet.
M2M (Machine to Machine) is when two devices talk directly to each other. This job involves supporting apps that handle such connections.
8. How do you monitor or troubleshoot a backend application in production?
Answer:
We use logs, metrics, and tools like Jenkins, CloudWatch, or Kibana. If there’s a bug or slowdown, we analyze logs, check server load, and trace the problem using monitoring tools.
9. What is the role of Maven in Java projects?
Answer:
Maven is a tool that helps manage Java projects. It handles dependencies (libraries), builds code, and creates reports. It makes the development process smooth and organized.
10. Tell us about a challenging backend problem you solved.
Answer (Example):
In my last project, a backend API was taking too long to respond. I found the issue was with an inefficient database query. I rewrote the query and used caching to improve the response time from 5 seconds to under 1 second.
