About IITM Madras Summer Fellowship Programme

The Summer Fellowship Programme at Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) aims to build research aptitude and academic curiosity among young students. Selected candidates will undertake a goal-oriented research internship under the guidance of experienced faculty members.

This programme is ideal for students who are planning for:

• Higher studies (M.Tech / MS / PhD)

• Research-oriented careers

• Academic excellence and strong resumes

Programme Duration

• Internship Period: 18 May 2026 to 17 July 2026

• Duration: 2 Months

Stipend Details

• Stipend Amount: ₹15,000 per month

• Maximum Duration: 2 months

• Stipend will be prorated based on the actual duration of stay at IIT Madras

Hostel & Mess Facility

• Hostel and Mess facilities will be provided on a paid basis

• Availability of accommodation is subject to availability

Candidates pursuing any of the following are eligible:

• 3rd year UG students:

  • B.E. / B.Tech

  • B.Sc. Engineering

  • 3-year B.Sc. (with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics)

• Integrated / Dual Degree students:

  • 3rd or 4th year of M.E. / M.Tech / M.Sc programmes

• Postgraduate students:

  • 1st year M.Sc. / M.A.

  • MBA students

6. Statement of Purpose (SOP)

   • Mention research interests, project ideas, and achievements
