Using PivotTables to summarize large datasets and create reports.

3. What is a timesheet, and how do you manage it?
Answer:
A timesheet is a record of the hours worked by employees or contractors. It tracks the time spent on various tasks during a specific period, usually a week or month.
In this role, I would help by:
-
Distributing timesheets to employees or teams on a weekly basis.
-
Ensuring the timesheets are filled out accurately and submitted on time.

Tracking the submitted timesheets for consistency and ensuring that the correct hours are logged for payroll and billing purposes.

A client audit is an examination or review of a company’s financial records by an external party (usually a client). The goal is to ensure accuracy and transparency in the financial statements and processes.
To manage this:
-
I would start by ensuring all financial records are organized and ready for review.
-
I would work closely with the client to understand the scope and focus areas of the audit.
-
I’d also gather and provide all required documents such as invoices, payments, reports, etc., ensuring everything is accurate.
-
Lastly, I would support the audit team during the audit process, answering any questions or concerns they have and providing updates on progress.

A billing rate request is a process where clients ask for a review or change in the rates charged for services provided. This could be due to:
-
Changes in the service scope or contract terms.
-
Adjustments based on inflation or cost of living.
I would review the existing agreements and cost structure to determine whether the requested changes are valid and then work with the finance team to update the billing rates accordingly.
Behavioral Interview Questions
1. Why do you want to work as a Financial Analyst at CGI?
Answer:
I am drawn to this role because CGI is a global leader in IT and business consulting, and I believe I can contribute to their success while also growing my career. I’m excited about the opportunity to manage financial processes like accounts payable, audits, and timesheets, and I appreciate how CGI values ownership and teamwork. Additionally, I’m looking forward to developing my skills further in a dynamic environment and learning from experienced professionals at CGI.
2. Describe a time when you had to handle multiple tasks at once. How did you manage it?
Answer:
In my previous role during an internship or project, I was often asked to manage multiple tasks such as processing invoices, updating spreadsheets, and preparing reports. To manage everything efficiently, I prioritized tasks based on deadlines and urgency. I used tools like task lists and calendar reminders to stay organized. When I had overlapping deadlines, I broke down each task into smaller, manageable steps. I also communicated with my team if I needed help or adjustments to the deadlines.
3. How do you handle tight deadlines or high-pressure situations?
Answer:
When faced with tight deadlines, I first make sure I understand the requirements and set clear priorities. I focus on one task at a time while breaking down larger tasks into smaller pieces. I also ensure I’m regularly checking in on my progress to avoid last-minute stress. If the workload is too heavy, I don’t hesitate to ask for help or delegate tasks when possible. I also make sure to stay calm, and if anything goes wrong, I quickly adjust and find solutions.
4. Tell me about a time when you showed attention to detail.
Answer:
During an internship, I was responsible for reviewing financial reports for accuracy. One time, I noticed a small discrepancy in the data: an invoice had been recorded twice, causing an overstatement in the accounts. I quickly flagged the issue, corrected the entry, and informed my supervisor. This small action helped prevent potential errors in financial reporting and maintained the accuracy of the company’s financial records.
5.How do you approach communication with clients?
Answer:
Effective communication is key to maintaining good relationships with clients. I ensure that I’m always clear and concise in both verbal and written communication. If I need to provide updates or request information, I ensure I provide all necessary details upfront and follow up regularly. I also actively listen to the client’s concerns and ensure I understand their requirements, especially when managing billing or audit-related requests. I believe that building trust through consistent communication is crucial in a client-facing role.
