BrowserStack QA Internship – Interview Questions & Detailed Answers (Simple Guide for Freshers)

1. Tell us about yourself and why you are interested in this QA role at BrowserStack?
I have completed or am pursuing my degree in a technical field like Computer Science or Information Technology. During my academic journey, I developed a strong interest in software testing and automation. I enjoy identifying bugs and improving software quality. When I read about BrowserStack’s work in providing cloud-based testing platforms for companies around the world, I felt excited to apply. The opportunity to work on real-time automation with top teams and global clients makes this role very meaningful to me. I want to grow my career by learning from experienced QA professionals and contributing to the company’s mission of making software testing fast and reliable.

2. What do you understand by automated testing and why is it useful?
Automated testing is the process of using software tools and scripts to run tests on an application automatically instead of doing it manually. It helps save time and effort because once the test scripts are written, they can be used again and again. Automation is useful for regression testing, where we need to check if old features are still working after new updates. It also increases test accuracy because it reduces human errors. For a company like BrowserStack, where speed and scalability are important, automation helps in testing across many devices, browsers, and platforms without much delay.

3. Do you have experience with tools like Selenium, Appium, or Qtest?
Yes, I have basic hands-on experience using Selenium for web automation during my college projects or internship. I understand how to write test cases in Selenium using languages like Java or Python, and how to use locators like ID, name, or XPath. I am familiar with Appium for mobile testing, and although I haven’t used Qtest professionally yet, I have studied how it helps manage test cases and track bugs. I’m eager to deepen my knowledge of these tools during this role and explore how they are used in real-world automation.

4. What is your understanding of regression testing?
Regression testing is done to make sure that changes made to the software, like adding new features or fixing bugs, have not broken any existing functionality. It is important because even a small code change can affect other parts of the application. In regression testing, we run previously created test cases again to ensure everything is still working as expected. This is often done using automation tools, especially when there are many test cases to run in a short time.

5. How would you approach writing a test case for a new feature?
First, I would try to understand the feature requirements by reading the documentation or talking to the product team. Then I would think about all possible scenarios where the feature would be used, including normal and edge cases. After that, I would write clear and simple test steps with expected outcomes. I would also consider what data is needed and if there are any dependencies. Once the test case is written, I would review it to make sure it covers different conditions and is easy for someone else to understand and execute.

6. What is your programming experience, and are you comfortable learning NodeJS or Ruby?
I have basic programming knowledge in languages like Java, Python, or C++. I have written small scripts for tasks like automating browser actions, data manipulation, or working with APIs. I enjoy solving coding challenges and learning new languages. I am open and confident about learning NodeJS and Ruby because I understand the basics of programming and logic. I believe that with consistent practice and guidance, I can quickly become comfortable with any new language required in this role.

7. Have you worked on any projects or internships related to software testing?
Yes, I have worked on academic or internship projects where I was responsible for writing test cases and identifying bugs. In one of my projects, I used Selenium to test a login and signup form on a web application. I created scripts to test input validation and user redirection. I also manually tested different parts of the app to check UI behavior and performance. These experiences helped me understand how testing improves the quality of software and prepares it for real users.

8. How do you handle bugs or issues that you find while testing?
Whenever I find a bug, I try to reproduce it to confirm that it’s a real issue. Then I collect all the necessary details like steps to reproduce, expected and actual behavior, screenshots if needed, and the browser or device used. After that, I report it using the bug tracking tool used by the team. I make sure to communicate clearly so the developer can understand and fix the issue quickly. If required, I work closely with the developer to test the fix and make sure the bug is resolved without affecting other parts of the application.

9. Why do you want to join BrowserStack specifically?
I want to join BrowserStack because it is a global leader in software testing with clients like Tesco, Shell, and Wells Fargo. The company is solving real problems by helping developers test their applications across thousands of devices and browsers. I admire how BrowserStack combines innovation with a strong work culture. I am also impressed by its growth, funding, and recognition in the tech industry. Being part of this company would give me exposure to modern testing technologies, a chance to work with skilled professionals, and the opportunity to contribute to high-quality products.

10. Are you comfortable working in Mumbai or relocating if selected?
Yes, I am comfortable working in Mumbai or relocating if required. I understand that this role requires me to be present in the base location and I am willing to make the necessary arrangements. I see this as an opportunity to work closely with my team, gain better mentorship, and be part of a dynamic workplace where I can learn and grow faster.
