• Qualification : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering graduate, MCA candidates can apply.
• 0–2 years of experience candidates can apply
• Modem/UE Protocol Stack Testing.
• Ability to understand network scenario (signaling & user plane call flow), develop test plans and test cases, and execute those test cases using an automation framework.
• Collects the required log and analysis/debug issues being found as part of regression.
• Automation using PERL/Python/TTCN scripting languages
• Location: INDIA

1. Tell me about yourself.
Answer:
I’m a recent engineering graduate with a strong interest in telecom and software testing. I’ve done academic projects in networking and practiced scripting in Python and Shell. I’m quick at learning new tools and eager to start my career in a challenging role like this one at Sasken Technologies.

2. What do you know about Sasken and this job role?
Answer:
Sasken is a technology company known for providing product engineering and digital transformation services. This role focuses on software test and release, especially in the telecom domain including 2G to 5G protocols. It involves testing modem software, debugging issues, writing automation scripts, and using tools like QXDM, QCAT, and Anritsu.

3. What is protocol stack testing?
Answer:
Protocol stack testing checks if the communication layers like Layer 2 (data link), Layer 3 (network), and NAS (Non-Access Stratum) are working correctly in mobile devices. It ensures that the device behaves properly in different network conditions by following 3GPP standards.

4. Can you explain 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G differences in simple terms?
Answer:

• 2G: Basic voice and SMS services

• 3G: Added better internet and video calling

• 4G: High-speed internet, better video streaming

• 5G: Super fast, low latency for real-time apps like self-driving cars and IoT

5. What is Interoperability Testing (IOT)?
Answer:
IOT means checking if a mobile device works smoothly with different network vendors like Nokia, Ericsson, or Alcatel. It ensures the device connects properly, without issues, on various network types.

6. What is QXDM or QCAT used for?
Answer:
QXDM and QCAT are Qualcomm tools used for logging and analyzing the behavior of a modem or mobile device. They help testers find and fix bugs in the communication between the device and the network.

7. What scripting languages do you know?
Answer:
I’m familiar with Python and Shell scripting. I’ve used them for automating small tasks and writing test scripts. I’ve also started learning Perl and TTCN as they are useful in protocol testing.

8. What is a use case of automation in telecom testing?
Answer:
If we want to test how a mobile device connects and disconnects from a network 100 times, instead of doing it manually, we can write an automation script to perform this test, collect logs, and check results automatically. This saves time and improves accuracy.

9. What is the role of Layer 2 and Layer 3 in mobile communication?
Answer:

• Layer 2 (Data Link Layer) handles reliable data transfer between the phone and network tower.

• Layer 3 (Network Layer) manages routing and connection setup between the phone and the internet or other phones.

10. What is 3GPP and why is it important?
Answer:
3GPP is the organization that defines global mobile communication standards like 4G and 5G. Testers and developers must follow 3GPP rules to make sure devices work properly across the world.
