The Ministry of Railways has officially released the Centralised Employment Notification (CEN No. 01/2026) for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP) across various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) in India. A total of 11,127 vacancies have been announced for candidates who have completed ITI, Diploma, or Engineering qualifications in relevant trades.
Interested candidates can apply online from 15 May 2026 to 14 June 2026 through the official RRB application portal.

Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
Candidates must be between 18 to 30 years as on 01 July 2026.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess any one of the following:
- Matriculation / SSLC + ITI from NCVT/SCVT in relevant trades
- Diploma in Engineering
- Degree in Engineering

Candidates awaiting final semester results are not eligible to apply.
Medical Standards
Candidates applying for ALP posts must satisfy A-1 Medical Standards, which include:
- 6/6 distant vision without glasses
- No color blindness
- No LASIK or corrective eye surgery history
- Physically fit in all respects

How to Apply for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026
Step 1 – Create Account
Visit the official portal and register using:
- Valid mobile number
- Active email ID
- Aadhaar or DigiLocker authentication (recommended)
Important: Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Email ID, and selected RRB cannot be changed later.
Step 2 – Fill Online Application
After login:
- Enter personal and educational details
- Choose exam language
- Select Railway Zone preferences
- Complete medical declaration
Step 3 – Upload Documents
Candidates need:
- Live photograph capture using webcam/mobile
- Signature in running handwriting
- SC/ST certificate (if applying for free travel authority)
Step 4 – Pay Application Fee
Payment modes accepted:

Application will be accepted only after successful payment confirmation.
Negative Marking
- CBT-1 & CBT-2: 1/3rd mark deducted for every wrong answer
- CBAT: No negative marking
Important Instructions for Candidates
- Apply for only one RRB.
- Multiple applications will be rejected.
- Mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, pens, and water bottles are prohibited inside exam centers.
- All communication will be sent through registered email and SMS.
Free Railway Travel for SC/ST Candidates
SC/ST candidates who opt for free travel authority during application submission can avail sleeper class railway passes for examination travel.
