India Research and Analysis Wing R.A.W have performed innumerable operations to save the country from enemies. In the meantime, it also produced many unsung Heroes to the country. One such hero is Tiger Ravindra Kaushik. Formally known as Indian Spy who worked as Pakistan Major during an undercover operation. Here we are going to let you know the inspirational life story of Tiger Ravindra Kaushik.

Pre-RAW life of Ravindra Kaushik

Ravindra Kaushik was born on 11th April 1952 in Sri Ganganagar located in Rajasthan. Ravindra did his schooling in a government school which is in his hometown and graduated (B.com) from SD Bihani College, Rajasthan. Before serving as a RAW agent he was into theatre acting, during his performance in a national level drama he came in contact with RAW.

How Ravindra Kaushik joined RAW or why RAW selected him to serve as a RAW agent is still unknown but during the national level drama performance, he met some officials from RAW, and after graduating he joined RAW. He was 23 when joining RAW.

During his service as a RAW agent

After joining RAW, Ravindra Kaushik was trained for 2 years in Delhi and sent to Pakistan as a spy with a new identity in the year 1975. He was given a new name which is ‘Nabi Ahmed Shakir’, everything which was on his original name in India was completely destroyed. He converted his religion from Hinduism to Islam and learned Urdu, joined as a law student at the University of Karachi. Upon graduating with an LLB degree he joined the Pakistan army as an officer and went up being promoted to the rank of Major.

In Pakistan military

He fell in love with a local Pakistani girl Amanat and married her, they had a girl together. He served in the Pakistan army from 1979 to 1983. During these years he provided valuable and crucial information to RAW which helped Indian Defense Mechanism. He was given the title Black Tiger by India’s then home minister S.B. Chavan but some say it was prime minister Indira Gandhi who gave Ravindra the title

In September 1983, Indian intelligence agencies had sent an agent, Inayat Masiha, to get in touch with Ravindra but he was caught by Pak’s intelligence agencies and he exposed Ravindra Kaushik’s identity. After knowing that Ravindra is not who he is, he was captured and tortured by Pak’s military at an interrogation in Sialkot and was given a death sentence in the year 1985 but later the death sentence was changed into lifetime imprisonment by the Pakistan Supreme court for spying.

As a Prisoner

Ravindra was held prisoner at various jails, including Sialkot, Kot lakhpat, and Mianwali for 16 years. He got Asthma and TB when in prison. He sent letters to his family revealing his health condition and how he was tortured (letters were sent secretly).
He wrote in one of his letters that “Is this the reward a person gets for scarifying his life for India?” On 21 st November 2001, he died because of pulmonary tuberculosis and heart disease in New Central Jail Multan and was buried behind that jail.

It is not worth being a spy of raw or any indian establishment, because politicians are not trust worthy, politicians like Pakistan Iyer read Mani Shankar iyer will go to any extent to denegrade india. Many congress politicians doubted the IAF strike on Balakote terrorist hide out. These politician s will inform the name of the spy to the enemy country if the spy is sent by the BJP, such is the greed for power for the Congress & communist party. It is a thankless job being a spy.
