Krishna Teja Mayalavarapu is well known for his hard work and strong desire to help others. He inspires many in India who want to join public service. As an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, he achieved many things in his career. His journey was not easy, He started from a normal background and faced many challenges. This blog covers Krishna Teja biography, including the challenges he passed and the values that motivated him from childhood to his current position as an IAS official.

PERSONAL LIFE AND STUDIES:

Krishna Teja came from a Arya Vyasa community in ​​Andhra Pradesh, a place famous for its temples, agriculture and learning. He was a very bright student in school. His parents valued education and made sure he went to the best schools. From an early age, Krishna stood out as a bright student, creating wonderful memories with his classmates and teachers through his hard work, curiosity and occasional leadership skills

Mylavarapu Teja is a 2015 Batch Kerala Cadre IAS officer. Mylavarapu did his schooling in Chilakaluripeta, a town in Guntur (AP) and graduated as an engineer with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from JNTU (K)– Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, kakinada in 2009.

Preparing and clearing the Civil Services Exam is not an easy task it needs a lot of patience and focus. One must have a very good understanding not only of the subject but also of the present and past activities of the state.

Meanwhile, Mylavarapu joined the RC Reddy IAS Training Institute as a Lecturer. Where he learned how to overcome stress & become confident in life this helped him progress as an IAS officer, in 4th attempt for Civils Service Mains Exam his mentor was BALA LATHA MADAM who cracked Civil Services Exam and serving people.

He prepared mains exam under Bala Latha Mam guidance for 1 year he went to her house daily early morning at 4.am and wrote the answers, questions prepared by Bala latha madam and she corrected the answer papers and gave necessary corrections, as his hand writing is not good which is important for mains exam he practiced neat hand writing for this he went to Elimentary School Teacher.

The teacher refused to teach him, but he convinced the teacher of the importance of learning good hand writing for him to succeed in the Civil Services Mains Exam because presentation skills are more important than remembering answers.

Finally, In fourth attempt, Mylavarapu played a fairly practical game, managed to secure 66th rank, and cracked the Civil Service Examination in 2015.

Krishna Teja, being an engineering graduate who had worked in software companies before cracking the civil services exam. He is married to Raga Deepa from Vijayawada who is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and they have 2 children.

TRAINING AND EARLY CARRER :

After clearing the Civil Services Examination Krishna Teja went to IAS training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie Uttarakhand a place surrounded with lovely mountains. The training aims to equip younger officers with the essential abilities and know-how to serve within the Indian laws.

This helped him in getting across the divisions of management, regulation, ethics and so on. Apart from ideas, the training saw some field level visits with officers interacting directly and with people knowing ground level troubles through out india.

Teja was first appointed as an IAS officer in rural and urban sector. Apart from his life, these early years were important in giving him a basic idea of ​​how things worked in India.

He oversaw the implementation of government policies and handled public meetings (grievances). Krishna set an example for upcoming civil servants what a civil servant can do in his capacity as an IAS and maintained transparency and accountability in the public service. He has won 2 International and 7 national awards.

Krishna Teja Mylavarpu contributed immensely in public administration representing the government in important areas. Certainly one of his known achievements is in the field of rural development. As District Collector, Krishna played a key role in implementing rural infrastructure development, health and education programmes. his efforts to increase sustainable agriculture and bring women into the mainstream through self-help groups(SHG) have been particularly effective.

OPERATION KUTTANAD AS DEPUTY COLLECTOR OF ALLEPPY MUNICIPALITY:

When he was a Sub Collector for Alleppy municipality, Kuttand area in Kerala recieved heaviest rainfall in August 2018. Kerala had witnessed one of the worst floods ever. Kuttanad region was filling rapidly with rain water and the dams are filling with water quickly there is no enough storage space to store water in dams.

He found that the dam gates are in dangerous and the dam gates had to be opened up and the water would flow into the plains below Kuttanad region. thus sub merging the people living in that area. Mylavarapu teja convinced then Dr. Thomas Isaac (Finance Minister Kerala) and came up with a proper plan to save more than 2 lakh human lives.

This is where Operation Kuttanad was launched which meant that all the people living in Kuttanad had to leave there home, without knowing the risk factors and consequences. Appropriate relief camps were set up to provide shelter and food for the rescued people.

Teja even convinced People who thought they might be exempt from the rising floodwaters to evacuate. As the floods hit in next forty eight (48) hours, Mylavarapu along with Issac (Finance Minister) convened a meeting with all district officials for proper rehabilitation.

Teja has a strong presence in Geography Subject this helped him to rehabilitate people fastly and find out the areas which are going to be effected at first. the whole evacuation of 2 lakh people is done by 200 boats in 48 hours under his leadership.

He deployed more than 200 boats for this operation and within three days, they managed to rescue 2.5 lakh people from Kuttanad which is about 95% of the population.

The Kuttanad project was partially completed on the evening of 18 August. He saved not only people but also animals living in the region. The animals were rescued, secured, and provided with all necessary medical care and food.

He even organised campaign to collect funds for the rehabilitation of flood victims through the “I am for ALLEPPY CAMPAIGN”

  6. 2024 June – Central Government approved his Inter-Cadre Deputation to Andhra Pradesh for three years.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Krishna Teja Mylavarpu played a key role in tackling the crisis. His highlights includes:

1. Organization of Relief Work: He ensured timely delivery of essential supplies such as food and medicines to remote communities, especially in tribal areas.

2. Quarantine and Health Measures: He was instrumental in setting up quarantine centers and enforcing strict COVID-19 protocols. He also helped expand health care facilities to meet the growing caseload.

3. Migrant Labor Assistance: Krishna Teja Mylavarpu looked after the migrant workers who were stranded due to lockdown, and provided them with necessary assistance.

4. Public Awareness Campaign: Led several campaigns to educate the public about hygiene, socialization and vaccination, which helped spread the virus in the region.

His leadership during this difficult time was widely recognized for his dedication and effectiveness in dealing with the outbreak.

In July 2024 the newly formed Government in Andhra Pradesh Honarable Deputy CM came to know about Krishna teja his works during Alleppy Floods, COVID 19 situation, he requested along with AP CM and Central Govt to send Krishna Teja on deputation to Andhra Pradesh as Inter Cadre Deputation. The central govt gave permission and relieved from kerala cader for 3 years and soon he will be appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM
