Inside Telangana Young India Skill University: A Look at Courses and Facilities

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the Young India Kaushal University at Mirkhan Pet village in Kandukuru district of Rangareddy which includes an advanced technology centre, a modern school, a primary health centre, and a community centre.

  • The state government is seriously setting up skill universities aimed at providing skill development training as per the needs of sectors and providing employment opportunities to students.
  • The Chief Minister said the government was ready to provide adequate funds for the development and maintenance of the skills university.
  • Jayesharanjan, principal administrative secretary, gave a PowerPoint presentation on the courses being offered at the university, the duration of each course, the need for infrastructure, funding and collaborations with companies provided. The CM decided to name the new university as ‘Telangana Skills University’.
  • CM Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka held a review meeting on the proposed Kaushal University at the Secretariat on Friday. After studying the functioning of skill colleges in Delhi and Haryana, the state industry department came up with a model plan to set up skill colleges in the state.

Initially courses that will be provided by the university are:

  • Pharmaceutical.
  • Ecommerce and logistics.
  • Banking, Financial services.
  • Construction.
  • Retail Operations and Management.
  • Animation, Visual effects & Gaming and Comics.

The university plans to train 2,000 individuals in the first year. Additionally, it will gradually develop a facility capable of training 20,000 people annually.

  • The Chief Minister and the officials discussed setting up of regional campuses in the regional center near the main campus at Engineering Staff College, Hyderabad. However, the CM revealed that the students would prefer the Hyderabad campus.
  • He directed the officials to organise all the trainings in Hyderabad, in order to ensure availability of necessary facilities at the NAC campus and elsewhere. Besides, officials were directed to inspect the premises of the Swami Ramananda Tirtha Rural Center at Bhudan Pochampally.

CM’s Main Speech Points On Telangana Young India Skill University:

  • The state government is setting up Young India Skill University to create jobs for the youth for the development of the region.
  • The government plans to build a new city with education, health and employment infrastructure.
  • A bill for the establishment of a skills university.
  • The foundation was laid for the establishment of advanced technology, modern schools, primary health centres and community centres.
  • The Skills University will provide skills development training and employment certification, ensuring the employability of graduates.
