About the program:
the rbi summer placement gives students an immersive experience into central banking, monetary policy, and financial management. interns undertake projects under professional guidance, contributing to key research and policy discussions.

Eligibility criteria (for domestic students):
students currently in the penultimate year of their:

• postgraduate courses, or

• integrated five-year courses in management, statistics, law, commerce, economics, econometrics, banking, or finance, or

• three-year full-time law degree from recognized indian institutions.

Application details:

• application mode: online (web-based form)

• application window: 15 october – 15 december 2025

• internship period: april to july 2026 (maximum 3 months)

• stipend: ₹20,000 per month

• selection: up to 125 students will be selected each year. shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in january/february 2026.

• travel reimbursement: ac 2-tier return fare for outstation selected candidates.

Important Instructions:

• candidates can apply for only one control office (based on the state of their college).

• incomplete or incorrect applications will be rejected.

• ensure the college authorization letter/bonafide certificate is uploaded while applying.

• all details entered in the online form will be treated as final.

Duration and Location:
internship duration is generally three months (april–july). interns will be posted in the rbi centre corresponding to their state (mumbai, chennai, kolkata, hyderabad, etc.).

Foreign students:
students pursuing higher studies in economics, finance, banking, management, or law at foreign universities can apply separately by sending their application (between 1 november – 31 december 2025) to:

Foreign students will work at the central office in mumbai between july and october 2026 and will also receive a stipend of ₹20,000 per month.
