1. Tell me about yourself.

Answer:
I’m a recent graduate in Computer Science Engineering. During my college, I learned programming languages like Java and Python and also worked on a mini project where I built a simple web application. I completed an internship in software development which helped me understand the software lifecycle. I enjoy solving problems and learning new technologies, and I’m very excited to start my career with a global company like EY.

2. What do you know about EY and the GDS team?

Answer:
EY is one of the Big Four professional services firms, and it works in areas like consulting, assurance, tax, and advisory. GDS stands for Global Delivery Services. It supports EY teams around the world by providing technical and business solutions. GDS has offices in India and other countries, and it offers opportunities to work on global projects and learn from different teams.

3. What programming languages do you know, and which is your favorite?

Answer:
I have experience in Java, Python, and basic SQL. Among these, I enjoy using Python the most because it’s simple to write and read. I’ve used Python for writing small programs and data analysis tasks. But I am also comfortable learning and using other languages based on the project’s need.

4. What is the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)?

Answer:
The Software Development Life Cycle is the process of developing software in several stages. The main stages are:

  1. Requirement gathering – understanding what the client wants,

  2. Design – planning how the software will work,

  3. Development – writing the code,

  4. Testing – checking the software for errors,

  5. Deployment – launching the software for users, and

  6. Maintenance – fixing any problems after the software is live.
    Each stage is important to build a good-quality product.

5. Explain any one project you have worked on.

Answer:
In my final year, I worked on a project called “Online Bookstore.” It was a web application where users could search and buy books. I used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend and used Python with Flask for the backend. We also used a MySQL database to store user and book information. This project helped me understand how different parts of an application work together.

6. What do you understand by database and what databases have you used?

Answer:
A database is a place where we store data in an organized way so that it can be easily accessed and managed. I have worked with MySQL and basic Oracle. I used databases to store user data and retrieve it when needed. I understand how to write simple queries like SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE.

7. What is the difference between functional and non-functional testing?

Answer:
Functional testing checks if the software is working as expected. For example, checking if the login button works.
Non-functional testing checks other things like performance, speed, and how many users can use it at once.
Both are important to make sure the software is working well and fast.

8. What is Agile methodology?

Answer:
Agile is a way of developing software where work is done in small steps called sprints. Each sprint lasts 1-2 weeks, and at the end of each sprint, we have a working part of the product. Agile helps teams to quickly make changes based on feedback and deliver the project step by step instead of doing everything at once.

9. Why do you want to join EY?

Answer:
I want to join EY because it is a global company known for its great work culture, learning opportunities, and innovation. EY offers chances to work with advanced technologies, and I can learn a lot from experienced professionals. I am especially interested in EY GDS because of its wide range of technology roles and global exposure.

10. How do you handle pressure or multiple tasks?

Answer:
When I have many tasks, I first list them in order of importance. Then I focus on one task at a time. If I feel stressed, I take a short break to stay calm and come back with a clear mind. I believe proper time management and staying calm helps me handle pressure better.

11. What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Answer:
Strengths: I am a fast learner, hardworking, and a good team player. I like to solve problems and stay organized.
Weakness: Sometimes I take time to adjust to new environments, but I’ve improved by taking initiative and asking for help when needed.

12. Do you have any questions for us?

Answer:
Yes, I’d like to know more about the kind of projects I might work on as a fresher at EY. Also, is there any training program before starting the project work?
