What are the benefits the people of India especially the poor are getting during this lockdown period amid the coronavirus crisis? This article gives the details of all the welfare schemes that the central government is giving to the 2/3rd population. Out of 131 crores, 80 crore people are getting benefited from this scheme.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a package of Rs.1.70 lakh crores for the welfare of the people making sure that no one in India should starve for food during this lockdown crisis.
HEALTH WORKERS WELFARE:
- Doctors, ward boys, nurses, sanitation workers, paramedics, ASHA workers will be now covered under a special insurance scheme.
- Any health care worker who meets with an accident while treating covid19 patients will be compensated with an amount of 50 lakhs under this scheme.
- Approximately 22 lakh health care workers are being covered under this scheme.
FOR THE POOR:
- As said by the finance minister, the government has adequate food grains for the next one and a half years even if no single farmers start a new production. So, she assured that no single person in India would starve for food.
- 80 crore individuals will be getting food grains which include high protein cereals to ensure good and quality food during this crisis time.
- This is double to that those people get every month on normal days.
- 2000/- rupees that the Prime Minister’s help for farmers will be paid directly into the accounts of farmers in the month of April.
FINANCIAL HELP:
- A total of 20.4 crore women account holders will be given 500/- per month for the coming 3 months period.
- 8 crore families in the country will be getting free Gas cylinders for the coming 3 months.
- Those whose earnings are below 15000/- per month will be paid 24% of their monthly wage will be paid into their PF accounts.
- The government will be paying an extra 1000/- into the accounts of senior citizens who are above 60years of age and also the physically handicapped persons for the coming 3 months.
All these financial assistance has already been transferred into the accounts of state governments. The state governments should just assure that this help would directly reach the beneficiaries without any middlemen.
